Here’s a great looking ’41 Cadillac 75 – specifically, it’s a Model 7519F, which is the 5 passenger sedan with electric division window!
The ’41 Cadillac was a styling triumph for the GM Art & Color department, led by the famous Harley Earl. The use of chrome, the speed lines, and the massive grille were intended to let everyone know that this was an impressive, expensive car! Another great feature is the use of fenderskirts.
The color is a deep Forest green, unusual for a car that was usually done in black. I believe it’s the original color.
Note the Black California license plate – this is a totally rust free California car, in the same collectors hands since 1971! It’s a veteran of many CCCA CAR-avans, most recently the 2007 Arizona CAR-avan.
Here’s another view – the gas cap is hidden below the left tailight housing, which lifts up to reveal the gas filler. A great touch to eliminate the unsightly gas door flap.
Here’s the massive front view – if you saw this in your rearview mirror, you wanted to move over and let the big Caddy pass! And pass it will – the engine is a powerful 150 Horsepower V-8 with 3 speed manual transmission. The rear axle gears are freeway friendly, and the car really moves along the road at highway speeds – 65 MPH is no problem at all.
The paint job was a high quality effort when it was done, but it’s had lots of driving since – there are a variety of chips and scratches on the car. It’s smooth, it’s shiny, but it’s not a show condition paint job anymore.
Let’s open the door and look inside – the interior is a combination of excellent original and restoration in the authentic materials. When I got it, the lower seat cushions were protected by a plastic seat cover, which, in retrospect, did a great job of protecting the upholstery.
Excellent wool broadcloth, and a nicely restored steering wheel.
Another view of the front compartment.
The rear compartment is excellent, with the diamond check pattern wool that’s correct for the car. The fabric is in really great shape – It’s either an awesome re-do, or awesome original.
Here are the occasional seats. Also note the wood trim, which shows some age.
The instruments are in beautiful condition, and they all work properly. the dash woodgraining shows some age and distress.
Here’s the division window in the UP position, maybe you can see the reflection near the edge. The division window is, thankfully, electrically powered from the factory ( it’s not Hydraulic) and it really zips up and down. Another really great feature of the division window is, that it’s curved, which allows more room for the driver. The driver’s seat is also adjustable, so you can drive this car whatever height you might be.
Luxurious for the rear seat passengers!
Here’s the 346 Cubic inch Cadillac V-8 – it runs like new, with plenty of power, good oil pressure, and smooth and quiet. You can’t see them in this photo, but the brakes have been completely rebuilt – shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder and hoses. This car STOPS as well as GOES!
Note the factory Vacuum windshield wiper bottle. Again – this car runs and drives beautifully.
Here’s the trim tag – it’s a special order car, SO-3119.
Here’s the trunk and spare. This car is really, really rust free. Even the usual suspects like the weatherstrip lip are solid and like new.
