It has been in the same California family since the 1950’s, with appreciative care and maintenance.  It was restored at Bill Borzi’s California shop in 1990, and It is a delightful car to drive, with excellent power, smooth and silent transmission, and working factory overdrive!

That is a big, beautiful car!  Even though it’s on the longest wheelbase of 148 inches, the overall length is only 225 inches – or 18 feet 9 inches – so as long as you have a 20 foot deep garage, it’ll fit!  By comparison, the 50’s / 60’s Buick Electra 225  was so named because it was 225 inches long

The Wilshire green paint was done in lacquer by Bill Borzi’s well known shop back in about 1990.  Although it shows a bit of age – a few chips, scratches and spots of lacquer check – it still looks very nice.  Good enough to bring to a show, just not enough to win trophies.

The interior is excellent,  done in wool broadcloth, and retaining the original luxurious lambs wool rear carpeting

And all of your friends can ride with you when the jump seats are deployed

And there’s the divider window bulkhead

properly finished in black leather in front.

Nice doorpanel, with proper accent stitching and wood trim window surrounds.  The driver’s seat shows a bit of wear.

The 180 Packards of 1940 were made of giant slabs of plastic. It was the early plastic,  leading to some imperfections with age.  This dash fits that bill, it’s good but does show a few places of not looking new.

Black California license plate!  Known California history to the 1950’s. It was sold new in Chicago according to the “1940 Packard 1808 Registry”. The car is super solid.

Here’s the 356 engine, the correct original one.  AND, look at that CYLINDER HEAD!  I have never seen one of these before, it’s an Edmunds finned aluminum cylinder head!  A very rare and cool accessory.  And also note the modern rotary A/C compressor.  If you go on a caravan during the summer, you will be the most popular driver on the tour!

The driver’s side of the engine. This engine runs great! It has great oil pressure, runs smoothly, starts easily hot or cold, runs cool with a brand new radiator, and has all the power you should expect in a Packard 180!

A few paint flaws, shown here up close.

I like the bumperguards

And the center beauty rings – they cover the wheel in addition to the regular hubcap and trim ring. Deluxe all the way!

A great car with great features and great history!
