This 1932 Packard 902 is a great survivor, brought back to life by a local Classic Car enthusiast. It runs, it will move under it’s own power, and it’s a real, authentic 1932 Packard Sedan, a Full CCCA Classic. It will need restoration, but it’s a fundamentally good car, with solid body wood, doors that fit and close well, and correct original engine and chassis numbers that match the car.
Current plates and clean California Title! This car has disc wheels , a Fred Mauck Adonis hood ornament, and good chrome plating.
Still some shine to the paint, but let’s not kid around, it should be painted to look good. The body structure and wood is good, the doors all hang well and close properly, and there would only be minimal bodywork necessary to make it really nice.
The Roof insert is very recent and is very nicely and correctly done.
Nice chrome plating. Obviously not perfect show chrome, but pretty nice.
Another view of the grille-hood area.
These might be the original tires – they show lots of age and cracks, and should be replaced at once.
I like the rearmounted spare, which allows the full sweep of the front fender to show.
Nice chrome on the rear bumper, note the separate piece to protect the spare.
Decent looking interior, done in grey striped synthetic fabric. That’s an original ’32 Steering wheel, and the correct dash and gauges.
Decent interior.
Here’s the doorpanel. Note the windows roll up and down like they should and the glass is in good shape, although the windshield has some de-lamination.
Correct gauges. The oil pressure gauge and the ammeter are hooked up and working. However the rest of the gauges are not hooked up and will require more work to be operational.
Good original correct steering wheel. I love the Art Deco style spokes! It’s got some cracks but is totally restorable or just use it as-is.
Decent looking rear compartment, with the same striped gray material throughout.
Nice flower vase for the rear passengers.
Nice!
Another view of the rear seat.
Here’s the 320 cubic inch straight 8, with the 1932 features – Fuel pump, multi-piece intake & exhaust manifold, and correct detroit Lubricator carburetor.
The valves were recently redone, hence the nice Packard green paint on the cylinder head.
It runs, but there is a tapping noise which we believe is a bad rocker arm. So, it’s good enough to move around, but not good enough to take a tour.
Here’s the water jacket side. The engine is a 347 number, which is right in the middle of 1932 Packard Standard Eight engine numbers.
Here’s the original firewall tag. 543 means 902 Sedan on the 136.5 inch wheelbase, and 300 is the sequential build number.
Note the original oil level gauge, and headlight switch at the bottom of the steering column.
A good old car that just needs some love. For example, you can see some delamination on the windshield glass in this phot0.
Great profile!
Classic Lines!
It’s a good car, it’s a rare car, and it’s a ’32 Packard, which has the magic V-radiator, big headlight and sweeping fender styling. A car worthy of doing the additional work required to restore it!
