This 1928 Lincoln Willoughby 7 Passenger Limousine is a great original car, with excellent history and long ownership by Lincoln hobby greats Powels, Passey and Henkels! It’s mentioned in a section of Jack Passey’s book, and is believed to be the car exhibited at the November 1927 New York Auto Salon
Here it is on the Field at Pebble Beach in 2007.
6 Wire wheels with chrome spokes, side mount mirrors, and the wonderful Owl Spotlight!
Stunning side view, note the oval doorhandles, and the angled windshield panes and visor – to reduce glare and reflections for the chauffer.
The coachwork is super straight, and everything fits beautifully. Those doors fit and shut like a bank vault, with that great click-thunk sound.
The Spotlight really makes a great impression!
Also note the black original horn on the driver’s side
and the beautiful Lincoln greyhound mascot.
It looks great, and it drives nicely too!
Formal and wonderful
The Wire Wheel Corporation of America – from Buffalo NY – hence the nickname “Buffalo Wire Wheels”. Duesenberg used them too!
Beautiful – and original! – wool broadcloth interior, done in the “Cathedral” style. This interior is astonishingly nice, and all original
Here’s one of the two jumpseats for those additional passengers!
This luxurious trim and upholstery shows the Willoughby talent
Both Jumpseats and a view of the Slider Division window
Combined courtesy lamp and vent – you know, for all that cigar smoke that the wealthy owners puffed while being driven around!
And here’s the vent out the roof!
On the right side, there’s a microphone for speaking to the Chauffer
More of the microphone, on it’s spring-loaded wire.
And here’s where the Chauffer gets to work – note the speaker horn between the top of the front seats. The leather interior was redone in the recent past, correctly and nicely.
Excellent dashboard !
That handle to the right of the instruments controls the Owl Spotlight
Excellent front compartment
The Lincoln V-8 runs great, and is the original engine to this car – the engine number matches the firewall plate.
Starts easily and runs nicely, with great oil pressure and all the power it should have
Note the downdraft intake manifold and Holley Carburetor – this setup was originally made in the 1960’s to make these cars breathe better. We have the original updraft components that are included with this car.
These components are included in case you want to return the carburetor to original.
Delco Starter/Generator works properly, as dose the shaft driven water pump.
Tools are included under the front seat
Tool Roll un-rolled
The Willoughby Body tag
Tidy underneath
Gas tank and rear axle
Trunk with luggage
A great original car, ready to enjoy now!
